Christine Slader - CCNS Teacher
Christine grew up locally and was educated at the University of Maine Orono with a degree in Education, but has learned the most about children in her years as a mother and teacher. She and her teacher husband have two grown sons and enjoy living in the village of Yarmouth where they have a daily connection to the values that they hold dear to them.
Her work as a community leader (various community boards, PTA president, booster president and athletic coach etc) and volunteer for local organizations (HART, Safe Passage etc) has enriched her life and carries through to her work at CCNS.
Christine has been teaching at CCNS since 1995 and still loves it as much as the day she started. She feels blessed to work with children every day and equally fortunate to spend time at work with their families. Her days at cooperative nursery schools harken back to when her two sons were attending a cooperative where she served as president. Her four years involvement at the boy's nursery school along with previous 6 years of working as an educator have made it clear to her that she loves spending her days as a teacher.
Christine spends the rest of her time working with children as a nanny , an after school educator on wednesdays at Cumberland 's Mable I. Wilson Elementary School and summers as a garden educator of young children at the Community Garden in Yarmouth .
You! Parent Teacher Helpers
Each day two parents are scheduled as Teacher Helpers or "the Working Parents". The working parent schedule is set prior to the school year. The primary goal of the working parent is to assist the teacher in the daily routine of the preschool while maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for the children.
The most important key to the success of a cooperative program is the enthusiastic involvement of the children’s parents. Parent contributions to the program will enrich all those involved and will be welcomed throughout the year. If you have any questions about your role in the classroom, please let Christine know.

Christine feels that each child and their extended family is important to the overall growth of the child as a life long learner. She believes that all children have the potential to grow and flourish in an enriching educational environment. She looks forward to meeting you and your family.
"In all my years of work with Early Childhood Educators, Christine is perhaps one of the most genuinely gifted teachers I have met. Her ability to nurture and support each child based on their unique individuality strengthens their self esteem, and their sense of self within this community."
